Financial Aid

1. How much Financial Aid will I receive?
Your Financial Aid is initially determined by a formula developed by the federal government. Basically, they take your expected amount of contribution by you and your family and compare it to the cost of the education you wish to seek. Financial aid awards are intended to make up the difference. The amount of aid you receive is not determined by the FAFSA results though. Your award amount will actually vary because the final decision is made by the financial aid office of each school. Aid will therefore vary from college to college because costs differ for each school and program.

2. When should I apply for Financial Aid?
You should apply for Financial Aid as early as possible. Contact the financial aid office of each school or program you want to apply to and find out their deadlines and procedures. You can submit the FAFSA form anytime between January 1st and June 30th for the school year beginning in autumn. Some colleges and Washington state aid sources however, have deadlines in January and February so the sooner you apply, the more financial resources you will be considered for.

3. What if my situation changes after I apply for aid?
Give the new information to your school’s financial aid office and they will determine if the change affects your amount award or eligibility status.
