Created in 2003, the mission of ILP Seattle is to provide guidance to young adults aged 13 to 25 years-old on how to transition out of the foster care system successfully to become thriving, independent, capable adults.

ILP Seattle is an independent project developed with the collaborative assistance of Casey Family Programs, Treehouse, YMCA Transitions, YMCA's Independent Living Program and Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, Division of Children and Family Services, Region IV.

Do you safeguard yourself on the Internet? The following are safety guidelines recommended to protect yourself from online predators and unsolicited correspondence.

  • Never give out personal information such as your address, phone number, the name of your school, any ID/social security/credit card number, or your last name.
  • If you become aware of the sharing, use, or viewing of child pornography online, immediately report this to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 800.843.5678.
  • Not everyone is who they say they are. For example a person who says "she" is a 19-year-old girl from Kent may really be a 30-year-old man from West Seattle.
  • Never agree to meet anyone, anywhere without talking to another adult, including a friend, about it first and getting their advice.
  • Never give out any passwords to anyone for any reason!
  • Don't reply to any e-mail messages if you feel that they are offensive, strange, mean or upsetting to you.
