1. Where can I get more information on my legal rights?
You can contact the Office of the Independent Ombudsman in Washington State at www.governor.wa.gov/ofco or ask your DSHS representative or case workers.

2. What kinds of complaints does the Ombudsman office hear?
Many youth complaint about feeling separated from their family. Some feel they are not cared for in their placement or they don't feel part of any family. Some call to express concerns about feeling unprepared for independent living. The Ombudsman Office is designed to try and find a solution for your personal concerns.

3. What happens if I make a complaint about my treatment in foster care?
Complaints are investigated by staff through either informal methods or a formal recommendation given to the appropriate agency. When complaints come from family members, family group conferencing is often used to try and result issues and concerns.
