Public Transportation

Metro Bus
One of the most common forms of public transportation is the bus. Metro has hundreds of buses that are designed to get you wherever you need to go around Seattle and King County. If you aren't very familiar with metro, then you can go to their website http://www.metrokc.gov/tran.html and plan your trip. Or call 206-287-8463 to speak with an operator.

Sound Transit
Sound Transit offers commuter rail service between Tacoma and Downtown Seattle, with stops in Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, and Tukwila. This 82-mile train track only makes a few stops to assure that you get to your destination as quickly as possible.

Tacoma to Seattle: 60 min
Puyallup to Seattle: 47 min
Sumner to Seattle: 43 min
Auburn to Seattle: 34 min
Kent to Seattle: 27 min
Tukwila to Seattle: 20 min

There are bus stops near every sound transit station so if it doesn't drop you off exactly were you need to go, you can transfer to a metro bus. For more information on planning your trip, or information on how to use Sound Transit, visit www.soundtransit.org.

Washington State Ferries
The largest ferry system in the United States, Washington's ferries take you almost anywhere across water that you need to go. Prices, schedules, and routes vary greatly. Visit http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/your_wsf.

Elliot Bay Water Taxi
The water taxi is a fun way of getting around. It runs seven days a week, between Pier 54 and on the Downtown Waterfront and the Seacrest dock in West Seattle. The crossing time is about 8 minutes! Bicycles are allowed, and you can use your metro tickets as cash. Cost is $2.00. If you want some more information on the Water Taxi go to http://www.transit.metrokc.gov/tops/oto/water_taxi.html.
