One of the most common forms of public transportation is the bus.
Metro has hundreds of buses that are designed to get you wherever
you need to go around Seattle and King County. If you aren't very
familiar with metro, then you can go to their website

Transit
Sound
Transit offers commuter rail service between Tacoma and Downtown
Seattle, with stops in Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, and Tukwila.
This 82-mile train track only makes a few stops to assure that you
get to your destination as quickly as possible.
Tacoma to Seattle:

There are bus
stops near every sound transit station so if it doesn't drop you
off exactly were you need to go, you can transfer to a metro bus.

The largest ferry system in the United States, Washington's ferries
take you almost anywhere across water that you need to go. Prices,

Bay Water Taxi
The
water taxi is a fun way of getting around. It runs seven days a
week, between Pier 54 and on the Downtown Waterfront and the Seacrest
dock in West Seattle. The crossing time is about 8 minutes! Bicycles
are allowed, and you can use your metro tickets as cash. Cost is
